Everyone needs to belong to a community and have a sense of their own history and where they belong in the story of the United States. They have been struggling for many years to gain recognition as a tribal people and gain whatever rights and privilege's that would come with it. Government to recognize the Ramapo people and the indigenous residents of Mahwah and surrounding communities as Native Americans.
